Wow. This is quite valuable- I think an important aspect that is missing from the super concise positioning statement though is the focus that every tag-line, every positioning statement . . . has to has to has to be backed up by your action.
Or as Michael Porter would call it the value framework. In practice this means great: you're the computer for the rest of us, but why? what makes you so unique.
At Apple its quite easy to discover this- now but at some point in time Apple had to put together hiring practices and policies and the like to support this purpose.
I've tried to take an attempt at distilling the differences between positioning statements mantras etc in this post: http://www.qworky.com/blog/2009/11/mission-vision-and-positioning-statements/
hopefully professionals will discover a compromise between the convoluted and the concise without support.
